RUSTLING LEAVES...

Rustling leaves...
Of autumn hues,
Fluttering in the breeze.
Stunning colours of various shades,
Falling from the trees!

Rustling leaves...
Lie on the ground,
Disturbed by creatures small.
Hiding acorns and other 'goodies',
That have fallen from trees so tall!

Rustling leaves...
Swept into piles,
Patiently waiting their fate.
Suddenly they are a fortress tall,
For a toddler coming through the park gate!

Rustling leaves...
Caught by the breeze again,
Gently dance around.
As the wind gets stronger, forcing a faster beat, leaves swirl and dip and swirl again -
Like a flamenco dancer's skirt and feet, flashing above the ground!

Rustling leaves...
Soaked by the rain,
Emit a smell all their own!
They provide the mulch for next year's ground,
When the farmers and gardeners seeds will be sown!

Rustling leaves...
Stacked and ready,
For the 'end of season' bonfire.
Feeding the flames and drifting in the smoke,
Like silent prayers reaching ever higher!

Rustling leaves...
Of autumn,
Have many uses it seems.
Another is to line the nests of tiny creatures,
As they hibernate and pass their winter in dreams!

Rustling leaves...
So Beautiful,
Lift the spirit - when we allow!
To meet with The God Who Created them - and us -
As He Beckons Saying, "Watch Me now!"
